Cabinet Chair

Phil specializes in helping business owners set up for successful exit by making their companies more attractive to potential buyers. Working with clients throughout Canada and the US, he has offices in Victoria and Calgary. Prior to his Bord role at Easter Seals, Phil was a multi-year volunteer with Special Olympics in Calgary.

Tara Spencer Nairn
Tara Spencer-Nairn

Honourary Chair

Tara is a Canadian actress best known for her work on the television series, Corner Gas. Most recently Tara can be seen in the new CBC GEM comedy series You’re My Hero as the mother of Ian, a blunt unfiltered 20-something with cerebral palsy who’s navigating life in a world not designed for wheels. In addition to her on-screen role that addresses accessibility challenges, Tara also has a personal connection to the area as an Alumni of Shawnigan Lake School.

Alan Thomas
Alan Thomas

Alan has over 20 years of experience in private and public sector finance and accounting leadership, ranging from small entrepreneurial start-ups to large multi-national corporations. Alan is currently the Vice President, Finance with Maximus Canada, providing executive leadership on all financial operations. As an Easter Seals BCY Board Member, Alan is passionate about supporting the long-term vitality and sustainability of Camp Shawnigan.

Marco Pasqua
Marco Pasqua

Marco Pasqua is an award-winning Entrepreneur, Accessibility Consultant and Inspirational Speaker with Cerebral Palsy. He has been involved with Easter Seals BC & Yukon for over 25 years, starting with his experience as a camper, moving into being a volunteer at many events, all the way up to being a Board Member today. Marco’s goal is to help build a world-renowned, universally designed destination so that future generations know what it feels like to truly be included in their community.

Robert Sharman
Robert Sharman

Robert recently retired as an SVP and Senior Wealth Advisor of a National Investment Firm. At retirement he led one of the most successful teams in Canada, that was noted for achieving many “firsts” including early adoption of SRI principles. Active in charities, he is drawn to Camp Shawnigan both as an Alumni of Shawnigan Lake School, and as soon to be stepfather to a young man on the Autism Spectrum.

Carol Williams
Carol Williams

Past (and first female) President of the Alberta Mortgage Brokers Association, Carol has over four decades of experience in finance. Her passion has always been helping people find their way home. She recently found her own way to a new home here in BC. Carol is drawn to support the redevelopment of Camp Shawnigan by the experiences of her adult son who is on the Autism Spectrum. Creating a safe and inclusive place for all to enjoy is at the heart of Camp Shawnigan.

Keith Phillips
Keith Phillips

Keith runs West Coast Aquatic Safaris, a marine eco-tourism company in Tofino focusing on whale watching, bear watching & Hot Springs Cove Excursions. Prior to starting WCAS, he identified that there were very few accessible eco-touring vessels and saw an opportunity to provide accessible whale or bear tours. Keith believes in accessibility for all and is aligned with the vision to build a fully inclusive destination for everyone at Camp Shawnigan.

Shane King
Shane King

Shane was born and raised in beautiful Victoria where he has worked hard for the last 25 years to become one of the top residential real estate agents. He’s been awarded MLS GOLD which places him within the top 10% of realtors within Greater Victoria and he’s passionate about helping his clients. Shane has owned a property at Shawnigan Lake for many years and is keen to be involved in the revitalization so it can not only support people with disabilities, but also the greater Shawnigan community.

Kathy Whitcher 2023
Kathy Whitcher

Kathy started her career as a city planner for the City of Vancouver, however, for the last 12 years she’s held the position of Executive Director with the Urban Development Institute-Capital Region. Kathy is responsible for the direction, growth and management of the organization and its members. As a mom of 3 grown children, Kathy recognizes the importance of children attending camp to further enrich their lives and feels that everyone should be given equal opportunity to this experience.

Danica Beck
Danica Beck

Danica is an Associate in the Family Law Group at Watson Goepel LLP. When she is not representing her clients in complex family matters, she is spending time in her community. Inclusivity and accessibility are important to Danica and she sees this campaign as an opportunity to contribute to an important and essential project that will have a lasting impact on the community that Easter Seals serves.

Neil Haley
Neil Haley

After 25 years, Neil retired from nursing at VIHA in Victoria and now spends his time at the helm of the Malahat Lions as the Club President. Neil is a longtime volunteer, pouring his own blood, sweat and tears into the camp every summer so it can welcome campers. He has a vested interest in seeing the site rebuilt so it can operate year-round for programs and respite to families across Vancouver Island.

Robert Dalton
Robert Dalton

Rob has been actively volunteering in his community since his children were young, volunteering for the scouts, girl guides and his local lions. He was a member of the Lions Club in North Vancouver, the Zone Chair and District Governor. Since retiring to the Island, he joined the Port Alberni Lions Club and continues to advocate for Easter Seals Camp Shawnigan as a vital support for the 4000 children and youth with disabilities across Vancouver Island and their families.

Tim Quocksister
Tim Quocksister

Tim opened Silver Arrow Performance Cars in 2001, focusing on an inventory of highly sought after, low mileage, high-end luxury and sports cars. Business now takes him around the globe to the most exclusive car auctions in Canada, the US, Europe, and Asia. Tim was raised on the waters of Shawnigan Lake where his family still owns a home. He has a vested interest in the lake’s long-term vitality, including the opportunity to redevelop the facilities on the shores of Easter Seals Camp Shawnigan.

Rebecca is a Development Manager at Shato Holding Ltd. With over 10 years of experience in real estate development, she has a very thorough understanding of the complexities that surround a development project, from the beginning stages of planning, funding, construction through to completion. Rebecca is passionate about developing our communities with inclusivity in mind and she advocates for projects that respond to the specific needs of those in our local communities. She is both excited and honored to be a part of the Easter Seals Camp Shawnigan capital campaign that embodies the values that she supports, developing inclusive spaces within our community.
